After your MLD session, your body is in a relaxed, parasympathetic state. Overstimulation from heat, loud environments, intense movement, or emotional stress can pull your system out of that state too quickly. For clients with MS, this can lead to fatigue, sensory overload, or increased spasticity.
Florida Bodywork Authorized Therapists encourage clients to treat the hours after a session as recovery time. Avoid saunas, hot showers, loud gatherings, or vigorous activity. Your body is doing important internal work. Giving it a quiet space to process leads to better results and fewer disruptions to your nervous system.
This doesn’t require total isolation. It might mean skipping errands, lowering the lights, or turning off background noise for a while. Subtle adjustments make a big difference. Protecting the calm your session created helps reinforce the benefits and keeps your body in a healing rhythm.
