Wearing loose-fitting, easy-to-remove clothing helps make your MLD session smoother from start to finish. Manual Lymphatic Drainage uses light, precise touch and often covers a large portion of the body. Tight clothing, heavy fabrics, or complicated layers can create unnecessary friction, limit access, and increase discomfort during transitions.
For clients with MS, mobility challenges, sensory sensitivity, and temperature regulation can all be affected by clothing. Soft, breathable fabrics that slide on and off easily reduce stress and make it easier to position your body on the table. They also help your therapist support you with minimal disruption, allowing the session to stay calm, connected, and effective.
In most sessions with Florida Bodywork Authorized Therapists, neuromuscular reeducation is used at the start to help prime the body for integration. For MS-focused MLD sessions, we intentionally move it to the end. This adjustment supports nervous system safety and allows the body to first process the gentle lymphatic work without added stimulation.
