Eat Light Before Your MLD Session

Choosing light, easy-to-digest meals before your MLD session helps your body stay calm, responsive, and focused on healing. When digestion is in full gear, your body diverts blood and energy to the gut. This can make you feel sluggish or bloated and reduce the effectiveness of lymphatic work. For clients with MS, where energy conservation and nervous system regulation are essential, a lighter meal can make a big difference.

Aim to eat one to two hours before your session. Choose foods that are warm, simple, and nourishing. Steamed vegetables, broth-based soups, soft grains, and well-cooked protein are great options. Avoid heavy fats, fried foods, or anything that leaves you feeling overly full. The goal is to feel satisfied and grounded, not weighed down.

If your session is early in the day or you’re prone to nausea or fatigue, something as simple as a banana or a warm mug of bone broth may be enough. Everyone’s digestion is different, and honoring what feels best for your system is part of the therapeutic process. The key is to arrive comfortable and ready to receive the full benefit of your session.
